Which is a better coin to own?

April 11, 2010 · Posted in Silver Updates

Which would you rather have? This is a gift for my mother who loves coin collecting.

A 2008 bald eagle silver dollar proof: Only ~$44, but only 500,000 are to be produced

A 2008 American buffalo proof gold coin (1/10 ounce): ~$160 but no statement of limiting the production

Both are official U.S. coins from the U.S. mint.

I personally would want the Gold Buffalo simply because I have numerous Silver Eagles already… BUT if your mother is a small time collector or beginner, she will be more than happy with the Silver Eagle $1.

Why not get her the Silver Eagle now and start saving for the Gold Buffalo for a gift NEXT year ! It’s a win win situation for both of you. If you are financially stable and money is NOT the object then get one now and the next for her at the next gift giving holiday of your choice.

Either way she will love what you give her… I know I enjoy ANYTHING my son gives me, even if it is a coin I already have. I gladly accept duplicates of any part of my collection. : )

Be sure to include a hug !!

Why choose, unless you have to,like you have money reasons.I would choose both and sit on it for a while because the cost of gold has gone up,meaning you get more for it now.I would choose the other one as well, simply because of the limitations that it already has on it.There is money in both.I hope that this helps.Good luck and best wishes..
